Shaping Knoxville’s Future: How TenHats Aligns with the 2030 Protocol

In May 2024, the Knoxville Chamber introduced The 2030 Protocol, a strategic initiative designed to position the area as a regional leader in technology and innovation. Focused on leveraging Knoxville’s growing tech ecosystem, this business-led direction sets the stage for transformative growth in the years ahead.

Preparing for the Imagination Age

Responding to growing calls from local businesses, the 2030 Protocol was developed to prepare Knoxville for the challenges and opportunities of the Imagination Age. Building on the Knoxville Chamber’s 2022 announcement to transition the city’s economic focus, the initiative recognizes the need for a more diverse and business-led approach to innovation. For decades, Knoxville has relied on government-funded or government-owned entities like Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and the University of Tennessee – Knoxville (UTK) to drive progress. The 2030 Protocol aims to complement these pillars by empowering the private sector to take a leading role in shaping the region’s future.

Building a Computing-Focused Economic Framework

Positioning Knoxville for success in the rapidly evolving industrial landscape requires a strong focus on building a computing-focused economic framework. A primary objective of The 2030 Protocol is to expand the region’s computing talent pipeline, ensuring the workforce is prepared for an increasingly tech-driven economy. To achieve this, the initiative calls on institutions like UTK, Pellissippi State Community College, and Knox County Schools to expand enrollment in computing and related fields while integrating entrepreneurship into their curriculum.

The 2030 Protocol aligns closely with TenHats’ mission to drive innovation and support the growth of Knoxville’s tech community. As a locally-owned company, TenHats is committed to helping build a strong talent pipeline and fostering a collaborative environment where technology can thrive. With a focus on expanding computing education and attracting tech companies, the Protocol complements TenHats’ efforts to deliver cutting-edge IT solutions and create career opportunities for the region’s skilled professionals. As part of this vibrant community, TenHats is dedicated to driving forward the innovations that will shape the region’s future.
